Guided tour of the historic fountains in Kaiserstuhl. <\/h3>\n\n

What makes the Kaiserstuhl fountains so special and can they tell their own story? For centuries, the fountains served as the only place for the population to obtain drinking water, for washerwomen to work and exchange the latest information, and for farmers and horsemen to water their animals. With the construction of the water supply, the fountains lost their importance as a daily meeting place. Today, the fountains delight the eyes of passers-by and invite them to linger. On the guided tour of the 8 fountains in the small town of Kaiserstuhl, participants learn lots of interesting facts about the history of the fountains. Kaiserstuhl’s historic fountains were awarded the Ernst and Hanna Hauenstein Foundation’s Fountain Prize in 2020.<\/p>\n\n
