Kaiserstuhl town tour

Tour of the town of Kaiserstuhl.

Come with us on a tour of the town of Kaiserstuhl. As the smallest town in Switzerland in terms of area, the triangle on the Rhine is still easily recognizable as a historical complex from the time the town was founded more than 750 years ago.

There are 2 guided tours on offer:

The guided tour under the motto “History and stories” shows hidden alleyways, the Spittel and even a French palace. Visits to the Amtshaus, the church and the largest fortified tower in the canton of Aargau, the Upper Tower, provide detailed insights into Kaiserstuhl’s history. The numerous works of Franz Ludwig Wind and traces of famous residents accompany you at every turn.
At the same time, you will find out what the 500-year reign of the Bishops of Constance and Napoleon meant for Kaiserstuhl and what close ties there were with Hohentengen over the centuries.

On the guided tour “Water and fountains in Kaiserstuhl”, participants learn lots of interesting facts about the history of the 8 fountains in the town and the water supply in general, as the water comes from the spring in Germany, as well as other special features relating to water. Kaiserstuhl’s historic fountains were awarded the Ernst and Hanna Hauenstein Foundation’s Fountain Prize in 2020, a brochure can be purchased for CHF 5.
